This is one of the most beautiful divesafaris one is able to experience and carry out in Phuket. The dive trip goes to a group of nine uninhabited islands and reefs at the west coast of Thailand - the Similan Islands (Similan comes from Malay, meaning nine). The Islands are located northeast to Phuket, seven to eight hours by boat-journey away from civilization. Snow-white beaches, untamed jungles, impressive reefs and one of the worlds-famous diving sites wait to be discovered by you. Each dive spot differs from the other. Sloops covered by corals change with giant underwater rock formations or drop offs. Hard- and soft corals and the coral fishes seem to be larger as on other dive destinations. Huge gorgonias, sea turtles, rays, sharks, large groupers and many other attractions keep divers and underwater photographers busy. Average underwater visibility is 30 - 40 Meters.
The dive centers careful and detailed planning as well as the friendly and helpful boat crew, the two excellent cooks and the competent dive leaders will make this 3-5 day - divesafari a memorable experience, an experience of your life! We sleep in tents on the beach, under the jungle trees. A tent, straw-rug, foam mattress and a blanket is provided to each diver. Daily program could be like this: After the breakfast, first dive ashore just a couple of minutes from the beach. Lunch around noon to 1 pm, relaxing, swimming, hiking in the jungle or just having a siesta. Second dive at 3 pm, afterwards coffee and cake, beach life, exploring the island. In the evening the dinner is served by campfire around 8 pm, followed by a fresh drink, fun and comments of the days diving or big stories about other diving holidays. You will be surprised how fast the days pass away and the dive boat hides back to Phuket - leaving part of your heart at Similan!
As the islands are located far away, we use fresh water only for drinking and cooking. Washing takes place in the sea. There is nothing to buy on the islands, everything needed must be brought. As nature should be conserved in condition, all the garbage is collected and must be carried back to Phuket. On our dive boats is a medical kit for first aid and oxygen, but the closest doctor is 7-8 hours away. Plan your diving careful and stick to the limits - we want you to return in good health!
Mice, lizards, birds, crabs, snakes and other animals are living in the jungle. This animals are very shy and run away as soon as the arriving divers start to rumor. But it is possible to meet them if one is moving slowly and careful. Bring things that you like with you, as a good book, a bottle of whisky, your walkman with your favoured cd´s or tapes. But please dont bring one of this "Ghetto Blaster" - the majority of participants like to listen to the sound of nature, not to your music! Team sprit is required, because many things are done together; docking, building up the camp, collecting fire wood etc. If you love outdoor life in a clean and sane nature, fun and campfire atmosphere than this divesafari will be the highlight of your dive vacation in Phuket!
