3rd of January 2005

Clearing and reconstruction are in full swing. The efforts are enormous. Most of the injured ones have been brought back to their home countries or are in the hospitals. Medical staff that was on duty for 24 hours per day is under less pressure now and get a chance of a bit more sleep.
Tomorrow, we will go to Khao Lak, to the camp where the orphans are being brought. There, we will see what we can do to help and get information on the formalities for adoption and guardianship. Any advice on this subject is welcome.
Also, any suggestions from people with ample experience is gratefully accepted. I myself have no experience, and would like to avoid mistakes.

Dao has left the hospital on 2nd of January. She still suffers but is much better. Zaben, one of our captains had to go to surgery on New years day with infected apendix. He was operated and is well.
Dive operation is going normal. But I, Klaus, will be on a longer term suspended from diving as I have to assist national and international organiszations with my connections to achiev informations and to search for missed persons.

I would like to emphasize again that the locals now need more than never the income from turism. Each turist is suporting at least two or three Thai families with his expenditures.
