Klaus Orlik
Klaus has lived and run his business in Phuket for 33 years. He and his
family are pivotal in this project as they speak Thai and have a deep
understanding of the culture. Although his dive centre was completely
destroyed, Klaus focuses most of his time on the plight of the victims
whilst rebuilding the centre. The love he has for Thailand shows in his
humility, humanity and in the endearing way he speaks Thai with a German
accent! Inundated with donations from clients, guests and strangers, he
has taken on his “new job” with enthusiasm and inexhaustible energy.
Prob Orlik “Bua”
Bua has been married to Klaus for over 12 years and is an important link
in relations with the locals. Her ability to obtain the information
required and instinct for people means that our project detail and
requirements are accurate and truthful. And her natural grace and beauty
brighten up the group.
Simone Allène
Simone has links to Thailand going back to 1987. Having lost close friends
here, she returned from Fiji and is putting her multi-lingual verbal
diarrhoea and organisational skills to full use. She is unashamedly using
her worldwide connections, eclectic email contacts and big smile to
maximum use even if charm school has eluded her. (P.S. Thank you Coco &
Carey – without you, I would not be here!)
Detlev Kablau
Detlev has been coming to Thailand since 1996 and is now establishing
himself permanently in Phuket. It has been a natural move for him to
volunteer his help as he, like so many others, has come under the spell of
the people and country. With his technical ability, friendly nature,
patience and attention to detail and fabulous yellow trousers, his status
as team member cannot be equalled.
Michael und Chune Breeger
Michael lives in Satahip with his wife and rushed down to assist Klaus
soon after the disaster. His technical, photographic and computer skills
were immediately put to good use and now he comes down to Phuket to help
out whenever he can. His wife helps with the Thai contacts, gathering
information and obtaining data.
Chutimon Nunnu “Dao”
Dao is the project’s first “Tsunami Diver”, having been in the diving
centre at the time of the first wave hit. Although injured, she was
rescued in deep water 1/2 a kilometre along the coast. Now fully recovered,
Dao assists in collating all Thai data and information and with her
personal yet substantial knowledge of Baan Nam Kem, she knows who to talk
to, who is really in need and where to go. She also ensures that no food
goes to waste!
Fonjai Saelee “Sai”
Sai and her smile make collecting data and gathering information much
easier. Her easy Thai manner and resourcefulness have already established
her as an important local member of the team.
